From Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis, Sophie Davies is a 26 year old singer with a good few years experience under her belt and an outstanding voice.
She was introduced to performing at the age of 19 when, as an employee of the Carphone Warehouse, entered into, and won their national internal talent competition titled "X-Factor Fever"; to fall in line with their first year of sponsoring hit ITV show The X Factor. During the competition Sophie was received at the ITV studios to perform live on the X Factor stage, a performance which was voted on by the other CPW employees - and came out on top. As part of her prize she was invited to attend the X Factor Live Final 2007, where she performed in the VIP room to judges, performers, production team and visiting performers such as Kylie Minogue and Catherine Jenkins.
In May 2008 she then performed at the Carphone Warehouse Annual Ball main stage in Alexandra Palace to a crowd of 10,000 strong, alongside head liners Mika, Taoi Cruz and The Cuban Brothers.
Continuing on from this Sophie then moved to Glasgow from Stornoway at the end of 2008 to take up with already established Glasgow based band The Seers; whom she was with until mid 2010. During her time with the band she performed in Glasgow venues such as ABC2, Stereo, Glasgow Barfly, King Tuts (supporting the Butterfly Effect on their European Tour) and The Old Fruitmarket (encompassing live string quartet) . They also travelled to Falkirk for the 2009 Big in Falkirk Festival and to Liverpool to perform in the famous Cavern Club, home of the Beatles, as part of the International Pop Overthrow Festival
Once Sophie and the band parted ways, she took a break from performing until after her son was born in 2012. Moving back to her home town in December 2012 she returned to performing with the support of Keith Morrison of Wee Studio Stornoway; with her comeback at Wee Studio Live in January 2013 in the Stornoway British Legion alongside local female performers Eleanor Nicolson, Fiona MacLeod and Josie Rose Duncan. This lead on to the formation of her first solo single "Lost for Words", and since then a whole new EP, "Thought is Free" has been produced
Sophie secured a support slot for Scottish power house band Fatherson in 2014 during their Stornoway leg of their 'I am an Island' Tour. This gig saw her original work being aired for the first time achieving positive reviews and interest. In the summer of 2014 Sophie was awarded a Demo Fund allocation with Wee Studio to produce a three track demo, which afforded her the ability to complete her EP by the end of 2014. During December 2014 Sophie performed her EP for the first time at the Wee Studio Demo Fund Gig held in the beautiful Woodlands Centre in Stornoway.
During 2014 Sophie also gained ground in the local entertainment scene by performing in venues in Stornoway as a weekend entertainer; performing a clever blend of classic and modern covers. Gaining her vocal ability local recognition and allowing for greater exposure and interest in her original material
